20th Oct - Kunming

Work up @ around 830 am. Had the breakfast provided by the hostel - french loaf w strawberry jam + yunnan coffee. Dint expect western breakfast, thot maybe will have porridge ? ha

Was raining in the morning.

We walk to <<翠湖>>，which is situated North-west of The Hump. Saw quite a no. of old folks strolling, Huge Swans ..... Group of old folks gathering at this particular 婷, they look as if they are doing some illegal trading ?
From <<翠湖>>，we went to <<圆通寺>>.

As recommended by Lonely Planet, we decide to give MaMa Fu Fu a try. MaMa Fu Fu is a nice cozy restaurant, its pretty crowded during lunch time. Accordingly to Lonely Planet, they are good for apple pies. But we dint try that.

We had 红烧排骨面, banana yoghurt, 红烧牛肉饭 and green tea. All this for RMB30.
The food are pretty good ... just that its abit too oily for my likings. We just spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing at their high-class coffee house. Reading magazines and drinking coffee. ( RMB18 for cappucino and RMB15 for yunnan coffee)

Went back to the hostel to get our stuff. We will be a taking an overnight bus from Kunming to Lijiang (RMB139). Decide to take an overnight bus so as to save time. And I think it will be better sleeping (or trying to sleep) than sitting there for 10 to 12 hrs.

Quite excited and worried. Excited as I have never taken an overnight bus in China before, wonder how are their buses like, not expecting much thou (its China ... )
Am also wondering how a 40 seater bus can be converted to a 35 sleeper bus?
Worried ? I hope no one smoke, spit in the bus !!! Since these 2 are the most loved activities in China ! And our bags wont get stolen in the midst of us sleeping !

Reach Kunming long distance bus station. Wow .. its very crowded. Ask a lady, she told us to go where all the buses are stationed to board. Hmm .. dont they need to check our tickets before we board the bus ? Well .. its china ... :P

There were a no. of buses heading to Lijiang. Got no clue at all which one is ours ! Decide to ask the drivers sitting around. Finally, found our bus. Dint spot any ang mohs. Saw a group of travellers who dont look like locals, realise that they are actually from Guangzhou. We are actually seated near each other. Heng ah ! They dont look like the ones who will spit or smoke ?

Finally the mystery is solved. They have convert the bus to 3 lanes of double decker beds ! I think if you are too fat, you will be stuck sleeping on the beds !
